The author of this option piece on Apple’s facial recognition unlocking system says at one point that if you’re not an Apple loyalist that you’d probably be laughing at the story. I’m not a Apple cool-aid drinking kinda guy, so I was laughing at parts of this. I keep wondering how you sneakily unlock your phone in a meeting when you have to pull it out and look at it? I can unlock my phone under a table using my fingerprint scanner and boom! I’m into my phone.
Face ID Is Unstoppable

I'm a guy who's grown up watching the technology explosion and expansion his whole life. I was there when the home gaming console was invented, I had Intellivision & Colecovision, and an Atari 2600. I was there when personal computers became a thing with my Commodore 64, and we used audio cassettes as hard drives and dot matrix printers ruled. I was there for the birth of cable television, and televisions going from 4:3 to 16:9 aspect ratios. I saw cameras and photography go from analog to digital, just like I watched music, movies, and everything else go digital. I lived in a world without Google and Amazon. I've watched mobile phones go from brief-case sized and mounted into cars. I've seen monochromatic screens change to color, and from non capacitive to full on touch screens. I've watched the rise of social media as well. I've seen at lot of stuff over my lifetime, so I have some insight into where tech has been that helps me better understand where tech is going. Check it out. View all posts by mark4tech
